The publication
About
An independent publication at the intersection of artificial intelligence, design and everyday life.
Five theses
Draft copy for the editors to approve- I
Technology is a material.
We study what it is made of, what it makes possible and what it changes.
- II
Precision before prediction.
We describe what systems do today before we speculate about what they will do next.
- III
Sources stay visible.
Every claim links to its evidence. Every correction is dated and kept on the page.
- IV
Form is part of the argument.
How an idea is set on the page decides who can read it, so design is editorial work here.
- V
The future is unfamiliar.
We would rather look at it closely than make it look like something we already know.
Guiding principle
A precise editorial environment for exploring an unpredictable future.
What we publish
Each kind of piece has its own form, so readers know what they are reading before they start.
- ResearchOne question, answered with sources you can check, a stated method and its limits.
- AnalysisA close technical look at one tool, model or system and how it behaves in use.
- PerspectiveAn argued essay. One author, one position, clearly marked as opinion.
- Case studyOne organisation, one decision: the constraints, the options and what happened.
- NoteA short observation from work in progress, ending with what is still unknown.
How we work
Draft copy for the editors to approveSources
We link to primary sources wherever they exist and say when we could not find one.
Corrections
Errors are corrected on the page with the date and what changed. Nothing is silently edited.
Use of AI
We say when AI tools helped with research, drafting or images, and a person checks every published claim.
